In the time before time, a people known only as the Infinites discovered a realm of untold possibility, where their immense mastery over magic and intention could be manifested into creation and permanence. These Infinites set out into this newly discovered cosmos with a zeal to test the limits of the material, and ponder the extent of creation. Birthing stars and molding worlds, they tested their mettle and creativity.

While the others of their kin acted with a solitary, singular purpose, a group of these Infinites gathered into what is known today as the Infinite Congress - a group of nine, with the intent to unite their minds and powers to create something beyond the imaginings of their peers.

The product of their deliberations was Nerasa, a paradise world of rich resources, vibrant life, and endless possibilities. Upon it they birthed great civilisations and wrote the laws of powerful magics into being, and for many eons the world flourished under their care and supervision.

The prized creation of the Infinites, this idyllic world, however, was not to last. Beset by the machinations of the cruelest of their order, Nerasa was the subject of a conflict of cosmic proportions – the result of which was the destruction of their once prized world.

Now shattered and scattered across the empty void of the Span, the remaining Shards of Nerasa continue to foster life, though now unchecked by deities that viewed their experiment a failure, and withdrew from it. Powered by a star of potent magical Infinite energy that once formed the core of their world, the Shards of Nerasa now place their fate in mortal hands.
