The Oraszan Gap

727 EE

First in 727 EE, and again in 809 EE, all contact with the realm known as the Other, or Orasza seemingly cut off for an entire year. During this time, spellcraft and enchantments that relied on Othermagic failed to function, and passage to and from the enigmatic realm was impossible.

While this event - on its own - was noteworthy, explorers and arcanists familiar with the realm were surprised to find that upon returning to Orasza after this so-called ‘gap’, that not only had the world of eternal daylight become a world of eternal nightfall, but the Mazgani and Skrabb denizens of the realm seemingly had no memory of the events before the gap.

After investigation into the affair, scholars of the Other determined that the realm of Orasza regularly underwent these cycles every 82 years, in an event known to the native Oraszans as the Rectification.

With memories lost to the Rectification, the Mazgani lords of Orasza rely on complex magical systems to keep records between the cycles - with only limited success. Trade and relations made previously with the Agroth Demesne, for example, had to be renegotiated, and were only possible due to a number of mysterious paintings that had immortalized the events of the original agreement.

It is believed that this cycle occurs due to the incomplete nature of the Other as a realm, and that it has led to an increasing number of Skrabb and other creatures of Orasza seeking shelter in Nerasa - where they are unaffected by the Rectification.
