Kezvee

The Kezvee are the most powerful commercial force in the Span, with trade posts and colonies spread throughout their territory, and are plentiful in the markets of any species that has a want for goods, services, or capital gains.

While the Kezvee are not formal members of the Accord, they have brokered a complex and beneficial Trade Confederacy with the Accord and its member states, and individual Kezvee are welcomed into the Accord should they seek citizenship.

Appearance

Avian in nature, the Kezvee are feathered creatures, with taloned hands and feet, and long birdlike beaks. They stand on average about six feet tall, and typically with leaner figures. Their lanky arms reach lower on their bodies, with a series of radial bones expanding back from their wrists to support expansive gliding wings.

The Kezvee have typically darkly toned eyes, though brighter tones are possible. Their beaks and exposed skin tends to follow suit with their plumage, which varies in colors from individual to individual, but ranges between natural browns and blacks, to more vibrant violets, blues and greens, with typically a neutral tone down their bellies. Kezvee have very little sexual dimorphism, with colorful plumage being common for all sexes of their kind.

In terms of dress, the Kezvee have a love of bright, warm tones - oranges, reds, and the finer golds, brasses and coppers, accented with few, but choice articles of cool colors, such as a blue scarf, a green sash, etc - all of it embroidered and loomed with intricate patterns.

In particular, Kezvee have a love of jewelry and glistening or silken materials, accenting their already eccentric attires with rings, bracelets, anklets, gorgets and more.

Diminutive and Downy

Kezvee children are generally what you would expect for the young of a species, being smaller in stature and having exaggerated limbs that they still need to grow into. Uniquely however, much like the birds found on other Shards, Kezvee hatchlings are covered only in a soft and delicate plumage of down feathers that gives them a uniquely fluffed appearance.

Kezvee parents tend to dress their children in extra layers in the hopes of protecting this delicate layer, though in the safety of home they often run around as little fluff balls.

Personalities

At an instinctual level, the Kezvee are driven to seek valuable items to prove their worths to their mates - and this preternatural drive is still part of the Kezvee thought process in some way.

In light of this, Kezvee are traders and treasure seekers at heart, filled with a passion for not only the finer things in life - but a base need to collect and accumulate items of value. They generally love a bargain, a trade, and the opportunity to get something for nothing - making gambling a common pass time in Kezvee society.

The Kezvee drive for wealth manifests in a number of ways - some take to the path of a trader of course, plenty more seek expertise in a craft or trade, seek power through administration, or otherwise take to the Span in search of long lost treasures and fortunes.

Culture

Kezvee culture is, as expected, one that centers around commercial trade, monetary success, and the exchange of valuables between hands. That the largest and most powerful governmental capital of their people is a floating caravansary should come as no surprise.

The Kezve'ta, the grand caravansary, stands as a central trading hub for the Kezvee peoples, and is the seat of power for the Magnates - plutocratic rulers, who oversee and enforce society spanning trade deals.

Individually, Kezvee are granted complete freedom, but a distinct lack of social services, and a society that focuses on fending for oneself in the churn of commercial power.

Kezvee Names

Kezvee names are a unique combination of a given name in the Kezve’sa language, and a flexible honorific that describes a Kezvee’s current role or status in Kezvee society.

Given names have a variety of sources, from pleasant syllable sounds and patterns, to words from ancient Kezve’sa, and rarely change throughout a Kezvee’s life without a major change in identity.

Some examples of given names include: Ar, Ahj, Aor, Baha, Ban, Bir, Dah, Dena, Doh, Dul, Han, Hara, Ih, Ik, Ila, Ira, Jah, Jana, Jic, Kana, Kela, Kora, Le, Lina, Loh, Moh, Mir, Nih, Noha, Ohn, Ora, Oj, Ria, Rin, Sah, Sien, Sih, Taba, Tan, Uha, Vih, Vin **

Honorifics

Kezvee honorifics are indicative of a Kezvee’s role or status in society, and will prefix an individual’s given name. Most Kezvee begin their life with an honorific Ke/Ka/Ko based on their birth order in their family, and will adopt another honorific as they walk their life path.

Choosing and changing honorifics is entirely the choice of an individual Kezvee. If one is particularly close with their parents, they may choose to keep their Ke title for longer than others. Choosing a title that one has not earned, however, is a strong taboo and is highly frowned upon.

The known Kezve’sa Honorifics are:
