Saenoch
Storytellers and world travelers, the nomadic Saenoch are one of the most gregarious peoples of the Span, but simultaneously the most mischievous. Enamored equally by a tale of glory and a prank gone right, the whimsical and free spirited Saenoch can be found across all of Nerasa - either by one of their wandering homes, or in the cities and ports of any of the free species of the Span.
While not members of the Accord, the Saenoch have made fast friends with many members of their alliance, and are welcomed into the Accord on an individual basis from time to time. More often than not, however, Saenoch find themselves attached to freebooters and adventuring parties - that is until their wanderlust drives them to move on once again.
Appearance
The Saenoch have generally humanoid forms, with supple double coats of fine fur, and canid-like heads and facial features. They stand an average of five to six feet tall, with a myriad of body shapes, and even more variety of shades and tones to their coats. They walk on digitigrade canine legs and paws, of which possess a preternatural grace and balance. Saenoch have no visible sexual dimorphism, with colors, coats, and body shapes shared readily between the biological sexes.
Most iconic of the Saenoch’s features is their horns. Sprouting from their canid brows, antler-like racks of many-pointed horns grow up and spread back over each of their tufted ears. The arrangement of these antlers are varied and distinct, and they often wear them with decorations.
In terms of clothing and fashion, native Saenoch clothing tends towards a precise middleground between the utilitarian and the fashionable. Many-pocketed cloaks are made of eccentric and foreign fabrics, and their belts are lined with pouches, packs, and a myriad of trinkets and accessories.
Personalities Whimsy and wanderlust are the cornerstone of Saenoch society, and it's unsurprisingly found among the traits of almost all of its members. Saenoch are drawn to stories and novel ideas, of which they often collect to bring back to their people, which has them tend towards the curious and exploratory - sometimes to a fault.
Generally friendly, and usually out of necessity, the Saenoch find themselves at home among strangers and in foreign lands - where their natural charm and winning attitudes earn them fast friends and easy accommodation.
Culture
A nomadic people, the Saenoch Medley has no strict leadership system for their nation - a term they only loosely use to establish political ties with allies and friends - beyond a generally and vaguely respected class of elders and family heads, which meet once a year at the Medleypoint.
Once the ancestral home of the Saenoch, the Medleypoint is the remains of a broken shard, kept and watched over by the Medleykeeper, who keeps the grounds safe and tidy for any Saenoch who need a safe port and a place to rest. Once a year, the Medleypoint hosts the Medley - a meeting of all Saenoch families that can manage to return their in wanderhomes, where they share stories and trade goods between one another.
The rest of their time is spent wandering the shards in their personal wanderhomes - mobile homes lead through the span by the strange and exotic Raenuig, or spanslugs. While not all Saenoch possess a wanderhome, most do, and to give one up or leave one behind is not a light decision. Those that do, often find a new home amongst allies - and hopefully one that can travel.
