Wrought
Discovered in a Caretaker cache deep below the surface of the Vassellia Shard, the many thousands of sentient constructs left behind by their ancient creators are known collectively as the Wrought. Constructed of sturdy stone compounds, metal, and each powered by a Core-infused capacitor on their chest, the Wrought are a strong, curious, and powerful people.
Little is known about the exact origins of the Wrought, though one thing is abundantly clear - the Wrought were created by the Caretakers in the bygone age before the Shattering. For what purpose, exactly, the Wrought were built for is ambiguous, with each class of Wrought awakening with only the most vague of directives.
While discovered lacking purpose, and lost, the Accord offered the Wrought a home, and for many generations their political support while they found themselves as a people. The Wrought have well integrated themselves into the Accord and have since founded Terminus - a colony shard fully formed and founded by the Wrought, in the shell of an ancient Caretaker structure.
Terminus has quickly found itself turned into a sprawling mass of well constructed buildings, shops, and social centers for the once-lost Wrought, and attracting traders and travelers from all peoples.
Appearance
All Wrought share a few physical attributes; All Wrought are humanoid in shape, possessed of two legs, two arms, and a head. All Wrought are constructed of stone-like compounds, accented and bound together by metal frames and sub-structure. All Wrought are fitted with a Core Capacitor that gives them life - a glowing gem-like heart that rests at the center of their chest, glowing for all to see.
However, while the Wrought are generally uniform, having been made of like materials and in a series of intelligently designed configurations, they do vary from class to class of Wrought, with bodies and aesthetics that fit their Directive:
Wrought Custodians, designed for social interaction and civil service, are the most elegant of Wrought classes. Their chassis are typically slight of figure and crafted of fine marbled stones, accented with either gold or silver trim. Their Core Capacitors are more aesthetically fit into their chests, with purely cosmetic designs.
Wrought Guardians, designed as guardians and protectors, are considerably bulkier and sturdier than other classes. Their chassis are tall, chiseled, and constructed of hardened, even-toned compounds, with iron or brass hued sub-structures and trim. Their Core Capacitors are fit into their chests in a utilitarian manner, and are often fit with extra protective layers.
Wrought Ciphers, designed as intellectuals and record-keepers, are the most discrete of Wrought classes. Their chassis tend to be slight and unobtrusive, and are composed of darker, matte-surfaced compounds accented with either obsidian or silver hued trim. Their Core Capacitors are housed in simple frames, with no bells or whistles.
Wrought Senses
While Wrought possess no senses of taste or smell, they do have exceptional vision and hearing, and are capable of a version of touch throughout their bodies, though they explain it as being somewhat more muted than other living species describe.
Culture
The Wrought are driven by two very simple, but meaningful things - that shapes what can be considered the foundation of their culture. All Wrought seek their purpose, and all Wrought seek to satisfy their Directive.
Based on the class they were assigned, Wrought were awakened with a powerful overarching set of commands that serve as their personal driving force. They call this their Directive. Each class of Wrought has a shared Directive, and some Wrought have found they are possessed of a unique Directive. The known Directives are short, vague, and can be interpreted in a myriad ways. This, more than anything, is what many Wrought philosophers and thinkers dwell on most.
Beyond their Directive, all Wrought seek to define and determine their true purpose. Directives tell individual Wrought what their duties may have been, and what they are most skilled at in their current form, but they do nothing to detail why the Wrought were made, by which Caretakers, or even when. Everything known about them is a matter of interpretation, assumption, and inference, and the Wrought seek to fill these gaps.
These two driving forces see Wrought undertaking a number of trades, professions, hobbies and adventures in the hope it will strike some chord, or lead them to answers.
Personalities
Wrought personalities are similar to those of other humanoids, and vary just as much, though this wasn’t always the case. When first awakened the Wrought were void of memories and driven only by their Directive, barely comprehending the Common tongue spoken by the Accord expeditionaries that found them.
In the years since, however, the Wrought have adapted to the society around them, borrowing language and mannerisms from those who they most actively associate with. To some extent, however, Wrought personalities can be somewhat influenced by their Directive; Wrought Custodians may be more proper, polite, or even arrogant, while a Cipher classed Wrought may prefer to speak softly, ask many questions, and eavesdrop readily.
Wrought Names
Typically, Wrought names follow a pattern of two words, translated directly into whatever language they are speaking as their vernacular. These word pairs usually possess some kind of meaning, and often fall into a pattern of Adjective Noun, Verb Noun, or Adjective Verb. When freshly awoken, Wrought often take names that just ‘feel right’, and are not above changing their names to fit the purpose in life they choose.
Some example Wrought names are: Abated Turmoil, Amusing Anecdote, Begrudging Interest, Bad News, Calm Skies, Deadpan Expression, Decidedly Swift, Decadent Display, Faraway Gaze, Firmly Halted, Gleeful Song, Kindred Spirit, Keeps Records, Seeking Skyward, Welcome Gesture, Yearning Eyes
