Berusian

The Berusian language consists of sharp short vowel sounds combined into multisyllabic words and sentences, and is structured around many standards of mathematics. While primarily used in Berusian settlements and colonies, the brief nomadic lifestyle of the Berusians and their heavy impact on magitech has made Berusian the second most common language encountered in the Shards.

Unlike most Nerasan languages, which are based on discovered Caretaker language, the Berusian language was developed entirely independent of external influence. Considered in that way to be one of the few truly unique languages in the Shards, it is difficult to learn for non-Berusians.

Berusian Script

The Berusian written language - like much of their culture - was based on the mathematic certainty that is a circle.

Consisting of characters that once represented family units in ancient Berus tribal culture, the symbols have come to instead represent the vowels and consonants used in the pronunciation of those family names.

Due to influence with the Vassellians, and the fast adaptation of the Berusians to new challenges, modern Berusian has added several characters to it's alphabet, to facilitate easy translation with Accord members.

Berusian characters are used to write out phonetic words in a manner very similar to Caretaker script, though they are not dependent on horizontal or vertical writing. In most cases, Berusian simply needs to have it's characters in a steady string, with it's consonants linked by it's vowels - with conventional punctuation usually not required.
