Ch'toklan
The language of the Ch’toklan is a guttural language reliant on a number of harsh glottal stops and clicks that are hard to produce with the many mandibled insectoid mouths of the Ch’toklan. Developed in a subaquatic climate, Ch’toklan is hard to speak and understand in the open air as it relies on many subvocalized sounds - but can be adapted in a pinch.
Thankfully, Ch’toklan is only very rarely spoken beyond Masreya, as the Ch’toklan people are not well traveled beyond the Dy’hari Trench. It is generally spoken only by Accord ambassadors to the region, and Sidsel who have lived along the Masreyan neutral zone.
Ch’toklan Script
The Ch’toklan language is written in a series of angular tickmarks that are vaguely based on the Caretaker ruins found in the northern reaches of the Halia Plains. Ch’toklans use a form of biologically produced vellum for writing that has a waxy like coating, making it easier for their claw-like appendages to quickly notate with this script.
Like many Caretaker derived scripts, it is a simple language of roughly 26 characters used to spell out words and sentences with vertical line returns, though Ch’toklan has not shown a consistent direction of writing in correspondence to date.
