Ky’lik

Beyond the Caretaker language, the Ky’lik language is believed to be the oldest continuously spoken language in the Shards. As the Ky’limek can trace their origins back to before the Shattering, their language shares a unique distinction of being entirely independent of Caretaker language for its development.

Consisting of harsh consonants, clicking, and gestural components Ky’lik is a complex language made all the more complicated by the addition of a telepathic component that expresses intention, tone, and emotional context.

While Ky'lik is a language that can be spoken by any species, without a Ky'limek's innate telepathy it is said to ring hollow and sterile. Because of its complexity and the relative isolated nature of the Ky’isst Autarchy, Ky’lik is not a commonly spoken language.

Ky’lik Pictographs

As a language developed independent of the Caretaker language and with limited exposure to other species and cultures until the past few decades, Ky’lik does not make use of the standard Caretaker alphabet and has not been adapted to it.

Instead, Ky’lik makes uses of a fairly large and complex set of glyphic representative pictographs.
