Vassellian
The various clans and peoples of Vasselern originally spoke a varied collection of local tribal and regional language that shared few similarities. In the years that followed the Scathing Storm and the forced unification of their people, the disparate peoples of Vasselern learned commonalities and naturally developed a shared language that is known today simply as Vassellian.
While many dialects of Vassellian still exist, incorporating elements of traditional regional languages and dialects, these dialects are generally able to be understood by one another with some amount of effort - and the language seems to flexibly incorporate esoteric expressions and mannerisms utilized by the different regions and cultures of Vasselern.
When the Vassellians discovered the Caretaker script in the depths of the Tidehold, further efforts were made to unify and standardize the language, and its studious development, flexible nature, and commonality amongst the most pioneering species of the Accord has made Vassellian the single most spoken language across the Accord.
Vassellian Script
The earliest forms of Vassellian were heavily influenced by the trace Caretaker records found in the ruins of the Tidehold, which were remarkably well preserved.
Over time, as the Caretaker language was not fully been understood until the arrival of the Wrought, the Vassellian Script evolved and deviated from it's origins to better suit the needs of it's people, and incorporating some of the record keeping and pictographs of the early Vassellian clans.
Today, the Standard Vassellian Script is utilized not only by Vasselern but also the Accord as a whole, due to its phonetic simplicity and utility as a trade language.
The Vassellian alphabet consists of 26 characters which represent consonants and vowels, used to form lingual sounds and words. It is written horizontally, from left to right, with vertical line returns.
